Match Rules
Preferred format
For more fun and to enjoy more playing time and better judgment of players’ skills, we recommend the following format for all matches:
- Best two out of three 6-game pro sets with ads
- If a set goes to 6-6, then a first to 7-point tie will identify the winner of the set.
- Play a tiebreaker for all three sets.
- If your match is tied at 1 set per player and both players agree, you can play a 10-point super tiebreaker in place of the third set. This must be agreeable by both players, otherwise, the default will be a 6-game third set.
Short Format
For players with limited time due to scheduling or court availability, you can play a short format instead of the preferred format. In that case, you can choose one of the following short formats for your match:
- Best two out of three 6-game pro sets with NO-ad scoring
- If a set goes to 6-6, then a first to 7-point tie will identify the winner of the set.
- Play a tiebreaker for all three sets.
- If your match is tied at 1 set per player and both players agree, you can play a 10-point super tiebreaker in place of the third set.
- Best two out of three 4-game sets with NO-ad scoring
- If a set goes to 4-4, then a first to 7-point tie will identify the winner of the set.
- Play a tiebreaker for all three sets.
- If your match is tied at 1 set per player, you can play a 10-point super tiebreaker in place of the third set.
- Best two out of three 10-point tiebreaker
- Play a super tiebreaker instead of a usual set for all three sets.
- Record your score as 1-0 for each set. For example 1-0, 0-1, 1-0.
Preferred format
For Canadian players, we recommend a short format to facilitate playing in community courts with limited playing time.
- Best two out of three 4-game sets with NO-ad scoring
- If a set goes to 4-4, then a first to 7-point tie will identify the winner of the set.
- Play a tiebreaker for all three sets.
- If your match is tied at 1 set per player, you can play a 10-point super tiebreaker can in place of the third set.
Alternative Formats
If both players agree, you can choose any of the following alternative formats. If there is no agreement on the format, play the “Preferred Format” above.
- Best two out of three 6-game pro sets with ad scoring
- If a set goes to 6-6, then a first to 7-point tie will identify the winner of the set.
- Play a tiebreaker for all three sets.
- If your match is tied at 1 set per player and both players agree, you can play a 10-point super tiebreaker in place of the third set. This must be agreeable by both players, otherwise, the default will be a 6 game third set.
- Best two out of three 10-point tiebreaker
- Play a super tiebreaker instead of a usual set for all three sets.
- Record your score as 1-0 for each set. For example 1-0, 0-1, 1-0.
Players should agree on a court that is halfway between both players. We recommend selecting a public court instead of a private court. However, players can play at any court agreeable by both players.
If two players are playing twice in a season, they can play a match in each player’s home court to make it fair to both players.
Players can select any court surface for their match. However, both players should agree on the surface type before scheduling the match.
You should split the court fee between both players. If your opponent refuses to pay their share of the court fee, please contact us for further action. The player that does not follow the rules will first receive a warning and if the behavior continues, we may block the player from participating in future tournaments.
Each player should bring a new 3 ball can. Add the cost of the can should to the court fee and split in half. The maximum allowed per can is $4.00 USD.
Before starting the match, players can warm up for a maximum of 15 minutes. If both players agree, they can extend the warmup time. During the warmup, each player should do their best to hit the ball as close to the opponent as possible and avoid forcing the opponent to run.
Use coin toss or racket spin to determine who decides who will serve first.
Lines calls must be made by the side playing the ball, otherwise, the ball must be presumed to be good. A ball cannot be called out unless the player is 100% sure. If the player is not sure, the ball should be considered good. If players disagree on the call, the point should be replayed.
We recommend players review the scores at the end of the match, and the winner submits the scores while still on the court. This will help prevent any future disagreement on the score reporting. Please check the score before submitting, since you cannot edit it later.
If a 10-point super tiebreaker is played instead of the third set, please enter the score as 1-0.
If you or your opponent entered the wrong score by mistake, click on the question mark (?) shown on the top right corner of the match tile and report the correct score. We will update the score from the backend.
We are offering singles match only. However, soon will also offer doubles and mixed-doubles matches.
Please select the match type option in your profile and we will let you know when other match types become available.
- Maximum rest period between end changes: 90 seconds.
- No rest period at first change over of the second and third set.
- Maximum rest period after first set: 2 minutes.
- Maximum rest period after second set:
- If third set is played: 10 minutes at option of any player.
- If 10-point super tiebreaker is played: 2 minutes.
We encourage all players to reach out to their opponents as early as possible to schedule their matches. Please reach out to your opponents via email, phone, or text. Although can use the website direct message or the tournament chat for this purpose, but we do not recommend it.
You can find players’ email and phone number on the match page.
- On “Qualifier Round” Tab:
- There is an icon for email, text and phone that you can click to access your opponent’s contact. If a player did not provide a phone number, text and phone icon will not be available.
- On Playoff Tab:
- Click on your opponent’s name to see their contacts in the pop-up window.
For the Qualifier Round:
- Each player should provide at least 5 days of availability to their opponents.
- If your opponent does not provide a minimum of 5 days availability, and you can’t schedule a match, mark the match as “Win by Default” during the last week of the qualifier round.
- If an opponent does not respond to despite multiple attempts, mark the match as “Win by Default” during the last week of the qualifier round.
- Please do not mark unscheduled matches as “Win by Default” until the last week of the Qualifier. This will give your opponent enough chance to schedule.
For the Playoff Round:
- You must play the playoff rounds in order. Each round will have 7-10 days window to complete. Therefore, we recommend you reach out to your opponent as soon as possible to schedule your match.
- Each player should provide at least 3 days of availability to their opponents.
- If your opponent does not respond or is not available to schedule by the round deadline, mark the match as “Win by Default” and move up to the next round.
We understand that life is unpredictable, and sometimes emergency happens. If you want to cancel your previously scheduled match, do so at least 4 hours before the match. Canceling between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM does not count as a 4-hour window.
Example: You have a match at 8 AM and you send a text at midnight prior to the match. That is a 1-hour notice (7 AM to 8 AM) only.
“No Show” is when your opponent doesn’t provide at least a four-hour cancelation notice or doesn’t show up with no notice. In that case, you may mark the match as “Win by Default”. Then click on the “?” icon and report the opponent no show event.
We monitor no-show incidents closely and may block players with recurrent no-show incidents from future tournaments. Our team will handle this on a case-by-case basis.
Qualifier Rules
At the start of the season, you will see a list of opponents that you need to play by visiting “Current Season” under “My Matches” menu. There will be a link to contact the player via email, text, or phone call. We encourage you to reach out to each player as soon as possible and schedule your match. You can play your matches in any order in the first two months.
Please reach out to your opponents via email, phone, or text. Although can use the website direct message or the tournament chat for this purpose, but we do not recommend it.
By the end of the two months, unplayed matches will be closed and you cannot play or submit scores for the unplayed matches. Therefore, you will not get any points for those matches either.
The deadline to play and report all qualifier matches is the end of the second month. For example, Season 1 starts on January 1st and you can play your qualifier matches until Feb 28th.
All incomplete matches will be closed by the deadline before the playoffs start. If you played a match before the deadline but didn’t enter the score, we cannot use that match scores to calculate the points.
Players are ranked based on their match results in each season. Our algorithm will calculate the rank based on the match results after a new result is entered. Ranking will then be updated throughout the season to reflect the updated results.
Qualification for the playoff is based on the player’s matches played during the Qualifier round.
If there are over 16 players in a division, only the top 16 ranking players will qualify to play in the playoff. Players’ ranking is based on the points earned in each qualifier round.
If there are 16 or fewer players in a division, then all players will play in the playoff as long as they meet additional requirements:
If a player is significantly stronger than other players, he/she will not qualify for the playoff and will move to the next NTRP ranking for future seasons. This is to make it fair competition for all players.
If a player misses two or more matches during the qualifier round, she/he will not qualify for the playoff. Missing matches are matches that are not played and matches lost by default. We do not count retired matches as a missed match.
You can’t. You pick your NTRP you register for the first time. After each season, our system will evaluate your performance based on your match results and will update your NTRP accordingly.
However, if you have not participated in any of our tournaments and want to change your NTRP before you sign up for the first time, please contact our support team to request changing your NTRP.
There are three reasons that you may not qualify for the playoff:
- Your skill was significantly above the rest of the players in the division. In that case, you will move to the next NTRP level and will not compete in the playoff. This is to make it fair to other players in case a player picks a NTRP which is well below his/her skills.
- Only the top 16 players in each division will qualify. This is based on the player’s points during the qualifier round. Please note that we calculate the top 16 among all groups in the division.
- If you miss 2 or more matches in the qualifier round, you will disqualify for the playoff. Missed matches include matches that are lost by default or unplayed matches. Matches that are not completed because of injury (retired) do not count as missed matches.

Playoff Rules
Each round of playoff has a deadline, which is listed above the playoff round column. Depending on the number of players that reach the playoff, you will have 1-2 weeks to play each match. You must play the playoff matches during the defined time frame and in order. This is to identify the winner and to move the winner to the next round. If you don’t play your playoff match on time, that match will be closed and we will not assign a winner for that match. We will move the next round player up without playing a match.
Please reach out to your opponents via email, phone, or text. Although can use the website direct message or the tournament chat for this purpose, but we do not recommend it.

To have a playoff, there must be at least two players in the division that qualify for the playoff. If no player or only one player qualifies for the playoff, then there will be no playoff for that division.
